Will depend on what political spin Obama can put on it. What ever good comes from it he will take credit and any bad will be blamed on someone else.

I'm still waiting for the Liar-In-Chief to take credit for the drop in gasoline prices. Someone please tell me if the snake has done that already.

I don't think Obama and the progressives really like the price going down. Doesn't help the global warming cronies that want to milk the taxpayers for wind & solar energy subsidies. Well, on second thought, maybe it works more in their favor as they will need more subsidies to make those things cost effective. Hmmmm.

The inside joke is that the electrical generating plants still have to stay on line just in case the windmills need repairing. Plus the cost of windmill and solar generated electricity is enormously greater than from petrochemical production. Remember that Obama said at the beginning of his first four that he thought that gasoline should cost around $5.00/gallon. The current lower price must really have his linen in a wad.

Congress is looking to raise the federal taxes on gasoline while the cost is low so us dumb consumers won't notice it the news media is reporting . The guv'ment already makes more on gasoline from taxes than the producers and refiners do.

I wonder if they will reduce the taxes when the cost of oil goes back up (did I type that stupid comment out loud?).

What bothers me about this issue is the lack of voices that call out the Obama administration on its lack of economic understanding or outright lies. Their constant characterization and minimizing of the jobs and benefits are repugnant. They only note "that which is seen." they will not acknowledge all of the spin-off benefits, the support jobs, the long term economic benefits, the national security, and even the true ecological superiority of moving oil by pipeline over trucking, shipping or even rail. They do not acknowledge that this oil will be processed and used in other nations that have looser standards regardless. It is in our benefit ultimately for us to reap the benefits instead of watching others take advantage. Our loss will be someone else's gain.

      Exactly!
But here's the thing, on almost every post I have read someone said something similar to your comment "why didn't anyone call out the government" or "why don't people do anything?" Guys we can't wait for someone someday to stand up and say "ENOUGH ALREADY! " , we have to be the ones who do it. Because if we all wait for someone else to start the movement to turn everything around , no one will ever do anything. We will all watch, and wait, and talk to one another about how much we hate what is going on, but never do anything to try and change it.

        Hello MelissaA,
We speak out to others and hopefully they will pass along these opinions. Lately I have seen the numbers of discontented and previously apathetic rise to the occasion. On this public forum and others people are speaking out and spreading the word, potentially at some risk. I believe it is a numbers game. Once enough people are feeling the pain and recognizing the truth there will be too many of us to ignore. Many are too timid and afraid of our government... perhaps rightly so, but there is strength in numbers and we must continue to shout from the roof tops if necessary.

Maybe I'm just not getting you point, but NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING! We are watching our liberty go away and being taxed at rediculous rates and everyone just sits there and says I wish people would do something about it! to be completely honest I am not sure what makes me angrier the government or the fact that there is no uproar about what it is doing. Like I said maybe I just don't understand.

Aside from demonstrating in the streets and being labeled as racist extremists like the TEA party was when they gathered, people do not know what to do. I believe something will change and something will be done, but it will take a catastrophe that pulls the safety net out from under the masses or at the very least a new POTUS that will require serious security, because he will have to be unlike the puppets of our recent history. People do reach a boiling point. Apparently we are still simmering.
I am impatient and discouraged by the thought that it may take something so painful and disruptive as a crash of the dollar, something of a similar nature or worse..

There are a few good people in congress that are making noise. I like Trey Gowdy very much and there are others, but there are powerful forces at work. History is replete with revolutions, some sudden and unexpected that were set off by single atrocities, others by gradual and continual transgressions of tyranny.

Do you recognize these grievances? Many are happening again...

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.
He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.
He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.
He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.
He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.
He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.
He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.
He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.
He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.
He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:
For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:
For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:
For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:
For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:
For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:
For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences
For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies:
For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:
For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.
He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.
He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.
He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.
He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.
He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

King George III is no different than a tyrannical democracy in its ability to be overthrown when the failure to appease occurs. Bread and circuses will only suffice for so long. From Rome to The U.S. government, Liberty can not be indefinitely repressed. I only hope the coming revolution is peaceful and arrives while I still breathe.
            Respectfully,
            O.A,.

We'll get a chance to see if congress is working for the security and betterment of the United States and trying to lessen our dependence on foreign oil or just kissing up to Obama. It won’t lower the price of petrochemical products, but it would be a good start to breaking the chain that foreign producers have on us.

    Any bets?

I like to think he will do the same as he did with Paris, nothing so it goes through.

i think the reality is he will fight it tooth and nail so it will be up to congress to over ride his veto.

he is to committed to his friends in the middle east to not try and stop it.

No...more like an evil dictator, pretending to be a spoiled brat so people don't take his antics so seriously...as if he's just making mistakes instead of knowing exactly what he's doing...dismantling the Constitution and gaining control as he tramples and steals our freedoms.

Oh, I believe he is fully aware, and stated as much when he first ran for office. He is evil, and methodical in his calculated evisceration of the Constitution and our Bill of Rights. I find it to be incomprehensible that the sheeple are just going ass to nose in his wake. They will have the rudest awakening.

I've thought that was his intention all along. The "fundamental transformation" he spoke about a while back was his goal of making this great nation into a third world country. His "antics" are nothing more than distractions while his minions dismantle the Constitution via regs and rules.

So I have a question. How come the feds claim to be able to intervene in Nebraska, but not in Oklahoma and Texas?

"The project, dubbed the Gulf Coast Line, is not subject to federal review."

    Nice article. Thanks.

I fully expect him to veto any bill - even if they have the votes to override. One of his biggest backers is Warren Buffett and his railroads (specifically the Burlington Northern), which currently move the majority of the oil in question. The pipeline is a cheaper, more reliable, and less dangerous method of moving the oil, and not only would it create a bunch of jobs, but it would help America become a net exporter of energy.

It looks as if we will have 2 more years of obfuscation of the facts by the White House. He no longer has Reid to block the bills from coming, so he will have to show his true colors and veto passage. On some things, there will be some Democrats like Manchin , who will side with the Republicans to override the veto. He will rail against them and say they are against something or other, trying to confuse the public and make them look like the bad guys. Of course, he will try to make it look like he is the benefactor or good guy and the others do not know the things that he knows and therefore, do not know what they are doing. After all, isn't he the smartest man in the world? Just ask his supporters and they will gladly let you know that he is and the rest of us cannot hold a candle to what he knows.

Does anyone know if the proposed path of the pipeline has already been purchased? I have been all for the construction but had not till now thought through the possibility that the properties may have to been taken through the evil concept of 'eminent domain'.
