My quote of the day from the book....a rediculous quote to us, but one that you could envision being on CNN from a "talking head" ..."Miss Taggart, I do not think that such a motor should ever be made, even if somebody did learn to make it. It would be so superior to anything we've got that it would be unfair to lesser scientists, because it would leave no field for thier achievements and abilities. I don't think that the strong should have the right to wound the self-esteem of the weak"....She had ordered him out of her office

This is referring to the one of the hallmarks of The Left; "Egalitarianism". They confuse equality of opportunity with equality of results. Ayn Rand was a visionary who foretold the times in which we are currently living.

May I submit to you the following quote which since discovering this jewel has kept me very busy, indeed.
"The Wise Man is always prepared to define his terms and to check his premise." Grant Reason

Wow, sounds just like a foreshadowing of what is now in the public school system. Everything is self-esteem (given) vs self-respect (earned). Rand knew what was coming.

Oh the unfairness of it all!

Imagine, it actually would, and does, make those who have the drive want to do better when they see something great achieved. It's human nature to want to have the best, be the best, topple your competitors. It raises the bar for everyone to meet, and exceed.

But, someone's feeeelings might get hurt. Wah wah wah.

And of course, you have to be your brother's keeper, give the little guy your, er, a hand, and most important, NEVER say ANYTHING that might be construed as offensive, controversial, or challenging, or tout your own accomplishments, because you would be denegrating the inherent dignity of those who are Productively-Disadvantaged...

An interesting side note. At one point during the economic boom of the 19th century. .....the U.S. patent office actually considered shutting down....because it was felt that everything had already been invented.

You like that one? Few recall the time during one of the Lesser Recessions of the Past Decades when a legislator in the NY government actually proposed a bill to make it illegal for any NY companies to lay off any employees "in order to promote stability in the market."

And nobody noticed that it could have just as well have been called Directive 10-289???

I noticed. Such morons at all levels.

That's OK, we on the left coast have to pay an annual $800 "Corporation tax" for no other reason that we're a corporation... to provide some loot for the state coffers up here. This in addition to all our other fees and taxes - just goes to show that the state saw money, and shoved it's grubby, greedy mitt out there to grab its share...
