Jesus can be anything you want him to be. War Jesus, Peace Jesus, altruistic Jesus, self egoist Jesus. You just pick and choose the one that you believe in and use your section of the Bible to enforce it. That's why it has survived so long. It's easy to be "right" when you call everything right.
