Obeying the law? Oh, come on, comrade citizens! What a unique 21st century concept. Some would call it quaint. Like living under The Constitution. Just ask Supreme Leader.
I really hope this kind of thing happens in other towns. I went to a meeting once and the board refused to hear complaints from anyone who was not a resident of the township. A lot of pissed off people. I wish I had studied the laws better and was prepared to confront them. As a little side note, I saw one of the reps laughing as the meeting adjourned and he gave the council President 5 bucks. It seemed obvious he had a bet with him that he couldn't stop people from commenting.
The fact that the attorney "didn't know" the open meeting requirements just goes to show how much the political philosophy of the left has permeated the legal profession.
She knew the law, she merely didn't feel they had to follow it.
Actually, she read from a handbook. It cited as similar sounding (but different) law about the public not being able to participate in the Board's deliberations. Apparently, the handbook made no mention of the law that said that the Board was Required To let the public speak. Ahem. An oversight, I am sure.
I am so glad these guys are willing to watchdog. I am looking for a site that lets me throw a few bucks in their direction to support them.
