Union Label

Someone please tell me. There was once an absurd notion of "Look for the Union label" that I believe was put into song. You're left to wonder today, but back when that jingle was in style, was that stuff also made in the US, or from another country?

Unions purpose (from my experience growing up a heavily union area of PA) is this:

To the company: "My uncle Billy Joe, best friends drinking buddy, who doesn't know how to read, yeah, he needs a $30/hour job with full benefits too. You better hire him or you know what we'll do."

Ok, here's a true story. Babcock & Wilcox (B&W) is a steel fabrication company. Due to efficiency of Japanese companies, and outdated production processes, the management of B&W wanted to lay-off several workers, in a phased plan to bring about some reinvestment at the plant, then once the improvements were made, would rehire the workers once things got running again.

The Union wouldn't have any of it. After several rounds of negotiation, the union wouldn't budge. B&W closed shop, and the parting words from the union was "You'll be back." That was in 1983. B&W never returned to Western PA. But, B&W is thriving quite nicely in Ohio.

So much for looking out 'for the little guy', for the children, for the economy, and any other BS mantra of the Left. Bottom line is: avoid unions at all costs. They really don't care about you.

Definitely USA made by the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (men accepted if they could sew). This crew has been driven out of jobs, as well, by successive bi-partisan Administrative and Congressional efforts to artificially raise (manipulate) the global standard of living at the expense of the American worker. Principally driven, however, by Democrats, it is mystifying that unionists continue to ally themselves with a party that is systematically dismantling their movement, unless, of course, you're a government 'service' worker.

It's always fun to visit a union shop and look at the tool boxes of the workers who will proudly display the UAW sticker right next to the American Flag. Few of them know, or understand that unions were introduced to the United States because of the Communist Manifesto written in the mid-1800s.
