Music to my ears...

Yesterday...
We the people, yes, we had our say...
Told those liberals they shall go away
Freedom reborn, on yesterday...

Suddenly...
the moocher power play has ceased to be...
a feeling of relief washed over me
and once again, we might be free...

we

We, were, once so low
they had crashed
the economy
Now, the dems, they don't belong
how we longed
for yesterday ay ay ay

Yesterday...
The dictator's power has been flushed away
And we the people will now sieze the day
To return us to
the U.S.A...

I felt good yesterday, and I like your poem, Susanne.
But today I'm getting the creeps about how nasty things are going to get when the Chairman-In-Chief uses his pen on his promise to executive order shove amnesty for illegal aliens down our throats.
The "opportunity" that Princess Pelosi mentioned seeing about the current border swarm is really all about dwarfing the GOP by sheer Hispanic numbers in the Demonrat Party.

You are dreaming. History predicts no change for the next two years. The electorate routinely turns out the party in power in off-year elections. Everything continues on as before. The Republicans are not going try to repeal the ACA ("Obamacare") because their supporters in the insurance industry want the ACA which is why it was enacted in the first place. The US will still be involved in military operations overseas. The federal budget might see some cosmetic changes, but at $3.5 trillion (cash basis) annually, a cut here or there of a billion may make big headlines, but will have no effect. No one is going to touch Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security, which are over half the budget (53% principle plus 6% interest). That interest is paid to... well... you know all about that; and that is not going away either.

Change does not come from a single bi-annual election. It comes from a change in culture which is predicated on a change in philosophy, often implicit. Not only is the evidence apparent for classical Greece, the Renaissance, and the Industrial Revolution, it can be shown be true in the 5000 year history of China. Emperors come and go, good and bad, only when the people get rational do their lives improve.

I like your poem. Wish I had as much confidence in our government to right itself. At least there is a better chance today than there was for the last 6 years.

Thank you! I was listening to the radio, and someone had done a parody of "happy days are here again", and it got me thinking... yes... we may... --may--... have something to sing about.

No guarantees, tho... one side can be just as corrupt as the other. but at least now one side can't run roughshod over us without at least there being a *chance* of being shut down...

    Great Words, Suzanne!

I'm expecting a series of executive actions done
quickly, with slooooooow parallel actions in the
con-gress, attempting to thwart the executive
    actions.

BHO will work the timing of things -- do things
fast and watch 'em try to figure out what to do
    in response.

maybe a congressional end run -- a law to
discount executive orders somehow??? -- j

I hope that those newly elected and those who have saved their positions realize that the people didn't cause a Republican tsunami in order for them to get along with Obama and compromise. If they wanted to get along with Obama, they would have elected Democrats! So, hopefully, Susanne, dear, they'll remember why we put them there and two years from now, we can sing, Michelle, ma belle, glad to see you go away for good.

Well done, I love it. After I read it I even tried to sing it. Such great talent here in Galt's Gulch, yes, and I'm starting to understand why.

ah yes - hope springs eternal...
when the republicans we're in charge
under Bush the First, with both houses of Congress,
taxes and spending went up as fast as ever.
    No significant regulations reductions --
even Bush the First pledge of
"No new taxes" was re-interpreted in Orwellian style as
    "KNOW new taxes"

Demicans to the side, republicrats to the forefront - hope yes - but likely history just repeating itself

Same song, another day. Two halves of the Boot-on-Your-Neck Party "changing" goals at halftime. Didn't get to my polling place Tuesday (I'm in New Jersey, no vote I've made in two decades here has been on a winning side, not just politicians but amendments to the state Constitution where I always vote NO). It was the evening to take out trash and recyclables (I don't take out the recyclables every week, but when I do, I look like a serious alcoholic).

I have to add, though, in spite of all the discussions etc. I feet a sense of relief among the folks around here. I live in a pre-dominantly conservative area and feel myself exceedingly lucky for that. The past few days, the mood is like a great weight has been lifted off our shoulders. The situations may not be perfect but IMHO at least we have a chance. Our task now is to hold our new leaders feet to the fire, don't let them get fat and comfortable in their new positions.

It was a couple days ago today
Told ol' Harry that he couldn't stay
His psychosis has gone out of style
and it's been that way for quite a while
Because he's such a clueless louse
    He's still trying to espouse
Barack Obama's nifty five year plan...

Barack Obama's Nifty Five Year Plan
He dumps it on you, yes, and how
Barack Obama's fun and nifty, grifty 5 year plan
He got it from his book of Mao
Ol' Obama's, Ol' Obama's Ol' Obama's five year plan.

    It's wonderful to rule you
    It's such a power trip
    We're watching you, the audience
    We're watching all the audience
    We'll live inside your home

they really don't want us to stop their show
But we're telling them it's time to go
We're starting up a brand new song
So they all had best just go git gone
So let me introduce to you
a way of life foreign to you
Without Obama's grifty five year plan...

Now that he's older, losing his hair
      And still quoting Mao
Michelle is rabble rousing right beside his side
the thought of it makes me want to go hide
Hearing them talk, all day and all night
      Usually leaves me cryin'...
      I'll be a hater
      He'll still be a dictator
      When I'm sixty-nine...

He could be handy, quoting Quran
      And Sharia Law
Beheading all his enemies on the White House lawn
      Democracy and freedom Forever gone
When I think back to what we once had
      It's now a thoughtcrime
      Will they just shoot me
      Yes, execute me
      When I'm sixty-nine

Every winter we are sent to Gulag in the north USA
      when it's ten below
      haven't got a coat
but we've got ourselves a shovel
      To, just, dig, a, moat...

Send me a pardon, drop me some food
      some earplugs would do
blocking out the words blaring from the P.A.
Got my mind Just wasting away
Because there's no reason, no hope and no strength
      to fight or even whine
Its just to damn scary, that life under Barry
      After I'm sixty-nine...

I think it's a little early to gloat- and we have yet to get the 7% Libertarians and the loser Republicans to put their egos away and vote for the Republicans that can actually BEAT the remaining Democrats. Ron and Rand Paul COULD have saved 2012. Instead Ron threw us under the bus and Rand did nothing to regather the troops and support Romneyy who would have been better than this maelstrom rained upon us in the last 2 years.

If Boehner gets put back in as Speaker of the House and McConnell and Senate Majority Leader, nothing will change. It isn't the (R) or (D) behind the name, but the principles they live by that matters.

I will be encouraged if Ted Cruz or Rand Paul takes over as Senate Majority Leader and someone like Trey Gowdy as Speaker. Barring that, I think all that has happened is that the Republicans have been given enough rope to hang themselves with.
