The Rise of Illiberal Democracy

I apologize for the length of this article, but even so, and though it is 17 years old, it is quite prescient and a worthy read. The word Liberal in this context is traditional liberalism not that of the modern vernacular.
The article exposes the failure of democracies, democracy building and the superiority of Constitutional Republics, democratically elected.
Yet, the breakdown is occurring here due to the never ending statist support for Democratic ideology and their attempts to wrongly convince the masses of the nature of our government through continual characterization of our system as a “Democracy.” Our system was founded as a Republic with traditional liberal democratic principles. Democracy, as our forefathers warned us, is far from a panacea.

"Presidents appoint cabinets of cronies, rather than senior party figures, maintaining few internal checks on their power. And when their views conflict with those of the legislature, or even the courts, presidents tend to "go to the nation," bypassing the dreary tasks of bargaining and coalition-building."
Thank you for posting this. It is a fact that gets deliberately swept under the rug by illiberal media, and the current regime in power.
Respectfully,

Am excellent excerpt. It deserves special notice.
I saved the article to my political science folder some time ago. When by chance, I came across it, I thought about how events have just reinforced its accuracy.
Best wishes,
