Trademark question

Apologies for this vanity post. In 2-3 years, I'll be going Galt, at least as far as my adult children are concerned...lol. Seriously, I plan on traveling to wineries throughout the US and put my reviews on a website, yet unnamed. After seeing AS3, I thought about using "Akston Vineyards" in the website.

Is that name trademarked? I don't plan on making much money off the website, but I'd hate to be embroiled in a trademark lawsuit.

This does not constitute legal advice. There does not appear to be a federally registered trademark for "Akston Vineyards." To be safe, make clear there is no affiliation between your website and Atlas Shrugged Movies nor Ayn Rand or ARI. However, you can say you are a huge fan of the book and/or the movies and my choice of this name is to express admiration for Rand and to encourage people to read the book and see the movies. Or whatever you'd want to add.

Whether you make money or not is irrelevant. The Ayn Rand Institute has pursued people who attempted to market their own tie-in products such as Rearden Steel trucker's caps on Cafe Press. However, if you put the name Akston in a search engine, I think that you will be pleasantly surprised at the irony.

You might want to take a close look at some of the handles of the contributors to the Gulch. By the way, that certainly seems like a dream "retirement." Good luck.

Thanks to you Mike, and khalling (so far). I haven't had much time to think my plan through, what with 3 kids and a grandson to keep an eye on. It's more than a passing fancy, though.

The scene with Hugh and Dagny was one of my favorites in AS3.

It gave me an idea for one of my categories: "Best Vineyard for Conversations". lol
