Public Law 89-97, also known as the Social Security Amendments of 1965, established Medicare and Medicaid, two landmark health insurance programs for the elderly and low-income individuals, respectively.

Was based on The Social Security Act of 1935, signed into law by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on August 14, 1935, established a system of federal old-age benefits, unemployment insurance, and aid for dependent mothers and children, persons who are blind, and persons with disabilities.

Which was based on “Germany [becoming] the first nation in the world to adopt an old-age social insurance program in 1889, designed by Germany's Chancellor, Otto von Bismarck. The idea was first put forward, at Bismarck's behest, in 1881 by Germany's Emperor, William the First, in a ground-breaking letter to the German Parliament. William wrote: ". . .those who are disabled from work by age and invalidity have a well-grounded claim to care from the state."

Bismarck was motivated to introduce social insurance in Germany both in order to promote the well-being of workers in order to keep the German economy operating at maximum efficiency, and to stave-off calls for more radical socialist alternatives. Despite his impeccable right-wing credentials, Bismarck would be called a socialist for introducing these programs, as would President Roosevelt 70 years later. In his own speech to the Reichstag during the 1881 debates, Bismarck would reply: "Call it socialism or whatever you like. It is the same to me."

Is it possible to eliminate Socialism from America in any way short of the second American Revolution?

      the SS tax is constitutional

the money sent to people is not and you have no right to it, 2 SCOTUS cases have said so

and nothing in the Constitution allows the Federal government to send you checks or forces me to pay for others medical care

    mwdicare, medicaid
    both 100% unconstitutional
and systems setup to buy votes for politicians.
that the roles on both system now include il-legals, the systems CANOMOT remain solvent over the long term.
like the unconstitutional Social Security, all there of these demand an increasing number of people to pay into these systems, more than take out of them. that is no longer happening

you want hope of fixing this??
ok REQUIRED ALL those in government to use these systems. ALL, including the politicians

you want a system that IS Constitutional
allow the Defense Dept to build hospitals, train medical staff, this would be for Defense and Disaster Prep, as the medical staff need training and experience, anyone could use these hospitals, any LEGAL resident and/or Citizen

    My subtle take:
    1) All emergency medical care should be free (to those here legally)
    2) All lifestyle medicine should be based on private insurance or private practices. NOT requirement to have insurance.

We are REALLY good with Emergency Medical Services. All JOB injuries, driving injuries, accidents, etc. Trauma care. We cover. We can afford this as a nation.

65% of our current medical expense are due to our DIETS of refined carbs, sugary drinks, addictive foods. If you add in the LONG-TERM damage from T2D, it goes to 80% (#1 cause of heart attacks, blindness, and amputations).

We suck at keeping people healthy when someone else pays the bill for it.

Nobody goes out and cuts their hand off for free medical treatment. Abusing the "Trauma/Emergency Care" is hard to do. Easy to identify.

While I am normally a TINY government person. I Realized that we could actually provide this level of care. BUT KEEP people who will not ADDRESS their own health issues out of the system.

FWIW, am I suggesting that a morbidly obese person having a heart-attack is not worth saving? (No. I am saying THEY must pay for that care, as their lifestyle is at the root cause. And I PREFER they pay through the nose!)
