The golden goose of the WNBA decided she was tired of the physical racial attacks and now she's going to Europe. On the surface it sounds like nothing. But, I think it's very representative of where America is heading these days...

So much for the WNBA. No doubt the ratings and attendance will fall with her departure. She is a class act.

I think you're right: the ratings will fall through the floor with her gone. Just look at what happened in this year's playoffs: viewership fell by almost 70% between her elimination game and the first subsequent game. THAT is what awaits the WNBA next year.

I used to go and watch WNBA when Jackie Stiles played, but naval-focused bigots have it all wrong. It's not "racism" to support your race. I am proud of my race -Shakespeare, Einstein, Dostoyevsky, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Geroge Washington, etc. At the same time I respect the achievements of other races - Ghandi, Buddha, Nelson Mandela, etc.

I am proud of myself, proud of my family (if I had one!) my village, my state, my country, my planet, my church, my bowling team, etc. That's perfectly ethical.

I am not a bigot just because I cheer for my village home-team basketball team when they play another team, any more than a mom cheers on her son or daughter. That's just being morally supportive. I am supposed to cheer for players just because they are on the other team? Because they have a certain skin color?

Are they going to tell the Turkish fans from Istanbul that it's racist to cheer for their team at the Olympics because the other team, the Americans, is mostly black?

Our village team this year had one black, and she would keep shooting even after she missed 6 in a row. I asked the coach about this hot-dog, but he said "She's getting better..."

Reminds me of this loudmouth in another cubicle when I worked at DoD. Every morning he would talk about the NBA, and all the players he hated or called "bums" were white.

I put myself, my state, my country, my family, and all the other "groups" I belong, to, first, not last. Ethics 101. A "racist:" is a person who puts his race first, in all things, all the time.

These hard core, media-bolstered racists, like the NAACP and BLM, need to stop thinking they are special. If they don't like white people in the USA. try getting in China's face. Or India, or anywhere else in the world,. As far as I am concerned the WNBA can play on Mars, by itself. Elon, please make a big space ship for them. LOL!

FWIW, I have never watched a WNBA game...
UNTIL Caitlin Clark. Because she was magical.

Now, I still have not watched a game, but I get trapped watching 30 minutes when I planned to see 5 minutes. She is an AMAZING ATHELETE.

And this is temporary, during off-season.

But the proof is in the attendance. She draws great crowds. And Shame on these people for claiming it is RACISM. Michael Jordan drew huge crowds, too! There are similarities. She helps improve the entire team, like Jordan did.

Totally agree. Never cared to watch BBall at any other time in my life. Started watching Caitlin do her thing, and I was a fan. Yep. Magical. And, bulletproof. The other players would knock her down or foul on her, and she'd just keep scoring on them. lol. Luved it. Sad to see her go to Europe. Kudos to her and may she prosper.

Not a sports fan either. However it's nice to see that she is looking after herself and making necessary changes instead of crying and whining about "unfairness". She has demonstrated to be a class act.

The WNBA will cry and complain when their ratings go back to the abyssal levels that they were before. Of course that will be Caitlin Clark's fault.

I suggested on another forum that she play in Russia. The oligarchs (team owners) will get in a bidding war. She'll get a $1 Million a year, easy. I used to watch the WNBA stars in Russia when I was there, in their "off season." They made more in Russia in a couple of months than the entire year of WNBA. Brittany Griner screwed that one up for everyone.

I am not a sports follower but could not avoid seeing how Caitlin was attacked.
She is one of those people that are good, correction- at the top in what they do.

I would be glad to see her back in a year or two in some political role.
