You know, I was just listening to Red Barchetta the other day, and I swear I wondered if Ayn Rand was in any way an influence on that band! I knew I liked 'Rush' for a reason!
Lol! No eskslo... but I am an artist and fancy myself a deep-thinker (hence my attraction to philosophy and intelligent people) ... but mostly I appreciate exceptionalism in all forms. I did date a drummer long ago in that pivotal time I call "my teens" ;) Neil Peart was his idol as a musician... But I fell in love with his lyrics. Didn't make the connection between Rush and AR until recently. I can only imagine the pressure a Libertarian would be under to conform in the music industry but I am disappointed to learn that Peart has compromised his fundamental intellectual beliefs... for whatever reason. Sad :(
Thanks for the feedback and honesty. I am a drummer myself, but also I play guitar, bass, piano, etc. I am good friends with several pro musicians that many might know, Tommy Lee for one, and I love what they do, but dont always agreed with their outlook. Interesting how people have such varied outlooks on life.
