The reason I dislike labor unions. (Well, the number one reason - there are plenty of others): It's in the union's interest to keep the membership unhappy. Therefore, there's a conflict of interest, and in the end, the union will win to the detriment of the company AND the workers.

As if it matters. Within a few years 100 million Americans are going to be out of work. The ranks of the UAW will be among the first, and the least mourned.

I'm offering my services to the Trump Administration to serve in the role of Secretary of Energy.

I has gots [sic] a plan to attain a "defeat with honor" when the war between "The AI & Robots" vs "the rest of humanity" goes hot.

In a few years the marginal cost of labor will approach zero because of AI driven robots. In order for humanity to survive, we'll need enough energy to power those robots and provide a surplus for feeding the billions that will be too expensive to employ.

I have studied the problem. The showdown is inevitable. No legislative act will prevent the tide of cheap labor from, not decimating, which is a 10% reduction, but eliminating any demand for human labor. 100% unemployment is on the horizon. I'd like to make it so it's not accompanied by 100% famine & the end of humanity.

If anyone has connections into the Trump campaign, please extent my offer to them.

Re; "artificial intelligence"-- I don't see much necessity for it or point to it. I believe in, and depend
      on, real intelligence.

Wow. If you stand on the railroad tracks and face away from the oncoming train, you won't see that either, but you'll be just as dead.

Sorry for being blunt. Industry will jump at the chance to replace real workers with machines. Tell me honestly, have any of the grocery stores in your area adopted 'self-checkout'"?

Note: I'm not asking it YOU use self checkout, only if merchants have adopted them.

I think you misunderstood the reason for my post. This war is lost. It's not like the government is going to try to deliver a UBI and pass the expense onto a dwindling number of producers remaining. There will be NO people generating wealth; NONE. Human beings will be too expensive and too slow to create anything of value when faces with the competition of AI robots.

Again, when is the last time you sought out a chimpanzee for anything of value or utility?

I'd say we've already lost the war, but I'm not nihilistic. However, the war is coming and we don't have a chance.

If we wait for the AIs to solve the energy crisis, we won't have to, as good as its solution may be, it will come too late for most of the population.

It's not like we're going to die off suddenly, (at least I hope not, but our quality of life will take a nosedive. If you thought the COVID lockdowns were bad, this will be worse. Because it will be permanent.

Some labor unions officials have bigger mouths than their brains. Or their press people. I was even written up once by the AFL/CIO newspaper saying I was working for a Union Busting outfit and my daddy must be turning over in his grave. I wrote to them and assured them my daddy was laughing himself into a frenzy at their stupidity.

Perversely ironic: UAW members intend to vote for Trump, which is the real reason UAW leadership, who are Democrat toadies, will try any trick in the book, including a frivolous lawsuit against Trump that should be instantly thrown out.

Speaking from experience (30+ years as an unwilling union member), Unions are their for their own enrichment, members are a distant second.
When a union violation is raised, the "offended member" would be "interviewed", usually at Anthony's Pier Four, on Boston's waterfront, a high-end Mob restaurant, where the matter is discussed over a scrumptious meal (or two).
This was standard operating procedure, union "leaders" might be out five nights/week "discussing" potential union violations.
In the end nothing much happens expect union bosses excessive weight gain and a lot of blustering that leads nowhere.
