Brilliant strategy by Democrats to change Candidate so late in the process. Having lured the Republicans in to their cult like leadership with the MAGA idea so attached to Trump. With identity politics there is no time now to change course. He is an old man, a vengeful man. With a smart young woman as an opponent all he has now is bluster which is all he ever had. I do acknowledge that he stood up to China and NATO which was needed but his time has passed
No respect from me, been around toooooo loooong.
Just hoping for a peaceful 10 years or so before the cyclical disasters hit the fan. Don't want to go out with communism and perversions up the yin yang.

The existence of those like xba frightens me, though. There are those that actually have been convinced that "Trump is a danger" or Harris is a "smart young woman" despite all evidence to the contrary, and they are allowed to vote.
He is forced by law to vote for the ones selected (by their local Deep State.)

I find it obviously hilarious how these idiots switch their allegiance under command from their superiors. Camel Face is just a patsy to usher in totalitarian control, they will be finished with her just a quickly as they were interested in her. The brilliant scheme is possible, but it could also be luck. As the joke goes, I don’t believe in organized political parts, so I am a Democrat.
The only time I met Harris was when she came to my town for an event with Senator Baldwin six years ago. I only talked to Harris briefly, just say. I did not know at that time Harris would become VP.
I think who is president is important, especially considering Trump plotted to use the presidency to stay in power with various means including a violent mob. But the larger issue is having citizens who believe in individual rights and liberal democracy.
In one hand, more people in the world understand and believe in the concept of individual rights, and that has created enormous prosperity and lifted many people around the world out of poverty. OTOH, the collectivist impulse is still strong. Rich countries’ central governments are powerful and intrusive. It’s hard to maintain a democratic republic once people get used to voting themselves money from the public treasury.
I’ve come to think there’s no substitute for more people in the world learning the ideas of individual rights and virtue of selfishness. Harris becoming president momentarily avoids the perils of Trump destroying liberal democracy, but it doesn’t solve the root problem. If people continue to accept a strong central government and strong executive branch, and another Trump-like figure will crop up and fire up the rabble just as Trump does.
It’s such a paradox: liberty has brought us so much prosperity, but we’re complacent and at risk of throwing it away.
