Fishing Boat Update
I appreciated everyone's input on what to name the new boat. Acquired her a couple months ago and she's beautiful. Built exactly to my specs. Everywhere I take her we get compliments. Just gorgeous...if a fishing boat could be so. After much thought we named her "Adios". That name says it all. When towing we get honks and thumbs up from fellow outdoorsmen....It's a bit of a fraternity here.
I'm learning the intricacies of a couple lakes nearby and the results are very exciting. Recently been stalking huge trout on a large, little-known reservoir up on top of the Sierras. This lake is so beautiful it defies words. I just show people the photos. Often the clouds are sitting right on the water. This body of water has kokanee, rainbows, lohantans, browns and massive mackinaw. I'm obsessed over the macks. We can see them on the sonar and eventually we'll figure out how to get them to bite. We've brought home beautiful trout. After the lake thaws we'll start bringing home delicious kokes. Just recently we got a 14 pound lohantan from Pyramid. That was amazing. A couple weeks ago we motored right up to a huge, regal bald eagle sitting on a limb on an island. Never got so close to one of those shy critters.
Here's a facet of owning this boat that was a pleasant surprise. Through a twist of fate I managed to land a storage slot in a facility near the house. This establishment is first-class and is run by the kindest, most customer-driven, Objectivist family I ever met. The place is full (I'm thinking about getting into this business) of INCREDIBLE toys. My personal favorite are the restored Airstream trailers. These trailers are iconic beauties. There are million-dollar motorhomes, Mercedes camping vans, massive 5th wheels, razers, etc. The most expensive RVs often have license plates from all over America - indicating that the wealthy occasionally visit our Gulch for fun. There are about a dozen fishing boats like mine and we fishermen will be gathering for bbq and drink there (it's tucked in a beautiful, forested spot) soon. Talking with people who own million-dollar motorhomes is interesting. I'm reminded that by the time you have the money for such toys, you may be in physical decline...lol.
Anyway. Any Gulchers who make it to northern NV and want to do some seriously fun trout fishing let me know...
