Glad you got Fred back unharmed! We lost our long-term pup of 13 years, just a couple of months ago (golden retriever mix). Although I always considered him "the wife's dog" I have to admit I was attached. When I cut off a fatty piece of meat, I still look around to give it to him.

We had a similar problem (he could be a runner) and a similar solution. Our daughter gave us her old kiddie fence, that we put just inside the front door. The entryway still looks empty without it.

I hope Fred is with you for many happy years.

Two adult neighbors chased him. My screams could be heard down at the Fire Station! Cars slammed on their breaks (one when Fred was right between the headlights of his car). From out of nowhere, two teenage boys appeared.. Fred loves boys and he stopped while they petted him and one picked him up to bring him home to me. I was shaking so badly he had to bring him in. N

  It took me no time at all to install a doggie gate outside my front door. Now, if I open the door, Fred can't get past that iron gate, he must wait for me to open it (when he gets his leash on. N

  My daughter in law who died last July had a little foundling. I called her a chi wow wow because she is mixed breed. My son was suffering so badly, I took Foxy back to him and he is completely content. That little rascal adores him. She sits on the arm of his chair. He is a disabled veteran on oxygen 7/24. She kisses him on the nose. She plays with him and her toys as she did with Lori. N
