With the heated talk between the US and China over Taiwan and other issues, I can easily imagine all goods from China coming to an abrupt end in the event of a war, hot or cold.
Next trip to Walmart/Costco/Sam's/Home Depot, etc, look around and imagine, if you can, all the shelves carrying items made in China suddenly being bare, with no hope for replenishment. I don't think we have the domestic capability to produce substitutes in meaningful quantities anytime soon (Think shoes and light bulbs). Depressing to think about how we got to this point.
buy canned chicken
buy chicken base in a can
buy chicken bouillon
but having the US dependent upon supplies for other nations was NEVER a good idea
