Just saw AS III
Just saw AS III in Bellevue WA. The 7:15pm show sold less than 25% of the seats. The film follows the book well. There is always material left out when a movie is based on a book. John Galt and Dagney Taggert were well cast and played the parts well. Joaquim de Almeida is too old for the part of Francisco d'Anconia. Henry Rearden deserved more screen time. I was disappointed with Part III. At least the movie was made. Atlas Shrugged would do better as a TV mini series. This would allow more time to develop the characters and explain the philosophy of objectivism. Thank you to the producers for making this trilogy.
I also thought the rescue scene played far more like something from a TV show [Numbers, perhaps], than CEO/business executives stepping outside their usual world to rescue Galt.
Rearden deserved so much more time. The wet nurse dying in his arms would have had impact. Rearden walking out of his meeting with Mooch, Megs and James Taggert would have been so doable. The brick of gold presented by Ragnar and missing from Rearden's safe the day after he disappeared. Scenes like that belonged in the movie.
the shooting schedule for this film was 19 days. I just heard my daughter say that in a radio interview. lol
