A Book Too Dark, Even for Me

I started reading "One Nation Under Blackmail, Volume 2". If you can imagine just how bad the Epstein story could get...Well, I'm reminded of what Nietzsche said - If you stare into the abyss long enough it starts to stare back into you. Imagine just how widespread the abuse of these young women could get. Imagine just how connected this guy was the very highest office in the land. It's that bad. It's as bad as you can imagine it could be. I'm about 20% into the book and just can't get myself to keep reading it. Perhaps it's my brain deciding to to confirm my darkest fears about our nation and western civilization. The book is very well backed up with excellent research and references. Definitely not "fake news". When I read "The Stones Cry Out: A Cambodian Childhood" I remember putting that one down after Chapter 1 and doing a little soul searching as to whether or not I wanted to keep reading it. I decided to and it became one of the most impactful books I've ever read - in the top 2 or 3. But this...This is just an account of absolute evil that got swept under the rug. We're no better off...

My wife got me a couple books for Christmas - one on the history of beer in Nevada and the other on the history of our county. Think I'll jump on to those....
