I feel bad.... I’m really not upset at my employer. They aren’t going to find anyone soon. But I’m tired of propping up a corrupt political system with the expenditure of my finite life. Now the fruits of my labors will go directly to me. No middleman.

The FACT that FTT is still trading for more than a dollar tells us everything we need to know about this fake/manipulated system.

Just what kind of job is that? What have you been doing for a living?

        I am a Industrial Electrician/Automation Specialist
When you see video of a bunch of robot arms welding car chassis on an assembly line, I’m the guy that connects all that stuff together and makes it talk to each other. And fixes it when it breaks.
I also plan, install and maintain the 480V 3phase distribution system in our plant. Our back-up diesel generator is 1,700 HP 16 cylinders and generates 2000 amps at 480V. Roughly 960,000 watts. Just to give a sense of the system capacity.
If my 30 years of experience could be translated into a current degree that didn’t exist until recently....I’d be considered a Mechatronics Technician/Engineer (because I often design my own systems). It’s a good job. And I can pick up some side hustle with it. Turning me into a member of the 1099 superior race.
But for now.....I’m going to fix Sewing Machines for $20 an hour working for myself. And do a lot of Walleye Fishing.
It’s not full blown retirement. But do productive people ever REALLY retire?

Did something very similar a year ago. I am a genuine man of science who was working at something much like the "Science Institute" in AS. I am pretty sure I was in the first meeting where it was suggested we get Big Bird and Elmo to encourage the kids to get the shot. That's just one example. I couldn't do it anymore.

There is a pertinent story about a man who was working on an oil platform in the North Sea. He woke up one night from a loud explosion, which suddenly set his entire oil platform on fire. In mere moments, he was surrounded by flames. Through the smoke and heat, he barely made his way out of the chaos to the platform's edge. When he looked down over the edge, all he could see were the dark, cold, foreboding Atlantic waters.

As the fire approached him, the man had mere seconds to react. He could stand on the platform, and inevitably be consumed by the burning flames. Or, he could plunge 30 meters in to the freezing waters. The man was standing upon a "burning platform," and he needed to make a choice.

He decided to jump. It was unexpected. In ordinary circumstances, the man would never consider plunging into icy waters. But these were not ordinary times - his platform was on fire. The man survived the fall and the waters. After he was rescued, he noted that a "burning platform" caused a radical change in his behaviour.

We too, are standing on a "burning platform," and we must decide how we are going to change our behaviour.—-Stephen Elop

I wish you good luck in your venture. Roatan is looking better to me all the time. I've had an invite to come on down and pick one of five houses a friend owns. I'm thinking about it. Have passport. Will travel. N

P.S. I told my only remaining child who just lost his darling beloved wife to get his rear over to the Post Office and get a passport because I'm wanting him to join me. N

Spent about 6 months there looking to buy property for a development (in about 2007.)
(Got a PADI diving cert then, too.)
Don't trust Honduran gov enough to buy there. The real estate "agents" are unregulated thieves, imo.
And the humidity there makes Houston seem arid. Nearly unbearable.
Much worse than living in Phoenix in 115F summer.
And the local people are only friendly skin deep.
The Flor de Cana rum is great though.
