Should I do it?
I'm contemplating reaching our to our Republican Governor-Elect to offer some input. First thing I'm bringing up is the huge need for streamlining of the licensure procedure for doctors in our state. It's a mess and one of the results is a shortage of doctors. I'd like to point out that I had a front-row seat to watch a once-great great state getting destroyed by leftists governors and can give some input on what not to do. But, part of me says, "Naw. Not worth the risk. Just enjoy your beer and watch it burn." What say you?
It almost seems like a trailer for the move Ideocracy:

There is no risk except for your time. So you should do it. I think you should ask who they listen to with regard to this issue. It would be good to have a letter to the gov elect that starts right with something they have the power to do, e.g. "I urge you to consider adopting the recommendations recently proposed by the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact Commission (IMLCC)." State exactly which actions you want the governor to take, why they will help, and very briefly refute counterarguments. It must fit on one page. Be positive on paper and in person about how much help the governor can be on this issue. It will go without saying (do not say it) that you will be disappointed if it doesn't happen.
You could mail this letter, but it would be even better if you talked to a senior staffer and handed the letter to the staffer. Sometimes you can meet these people and get their cards at fundraisers.
If you can find someone who lobbies streamlined licensure (maybe an insurance industry group?), ask them to tell you if they ever need a letter or phone call from a citizen, you'd love to help.
Government moves slow by nature, so if they enact reforms within few years, that's fast.
I have a selfish interest in a freer market for healthcare services, so I hope you do it.
