Things have probably never been more dangerous than they are today. At least, not since election day, 1860. Whatever the outcome of this election, it could result in something like what happened after that election.
Nor should it." Nor should it have ever stood. Lee should never have surrendered to the war criminals in DC.

This comment here is a good one: “There may still be a short window to regain control of the governments (federal, state and local) through the ballot box. If not, it took 70 years for the Soviet Union to implode, so we’ll be in for a long struggle.”
If they win by cheating or legitimately it won’t matter. What matters is they’ve seized control of the system. Through epic brainwashing or compromising election integrity. I really don’t care how they do it. I suspect they don’t either. The only logical response is to get out of THEIR system.
I moved to Southern Arizona last July 2021.... after living in Washington State (the red side of the State) for 30 years. However, I still own agricultural land in Eastern WA. I would not be surprised if one of Sovereign Nations (read, Yakima Indian Nation) decides that my land needs to be searched for old bones and relics -- and that I need to pick up the tab for the undertaking. Every individual has their breaking point. I really have no interest in going back North to defend my ground. Things are going to get a lot more ugly before a real succession occurs.
Reading further in the comments I truly believe that if fed gov “invades” Missouri polling places thus violating Missouri Law the state’s law enforcement agencies should oppose it and authorize use of deadly force if fedgov attempts the same. They will at that point no longer be acting under “color of law” and are little more than armed thugs. You’d need a SCOTUS decision. And while awaiting that decision one party cannot just break the law with impunity. Imagine if Trump had tried to do this in 2020.
We need to stop with the cheating concept. THEY beat us due to being outsmarted by THEM. We as Atlas people need to due what is said in Atlas Shrugged....leave them and move to our own society.
Just have to say that this article is full of historical inaccuracies. The South was in decline because they refused to modernize. They had less than 1/3 the number of railroad lines as the North and almost no canals to assist commerce. They were dead last in education - even of their white populace. They had been relying on their majority in the House to quash bills which even remotely criticized slavery and that majority disappeared in 1856. Immigration was burgeoning in the Northern states because there were no opportunities in the South. New York was the center of the cotton trade: not Atlanta. (Contrary to misconception, even the North was still primarily agrarian at the time but business opportunities in the South were limited to agricultural exports - primarily cotton and indigo - and the British textile mills' warehouses were stock full.) The South didn't even have a steel foundry when the Civil War began.
And the South had advocated for secession even in 1840. (At least three States formally seceded even before Lincoln took office.)
That being said, I do think that the political divide in this nation can't continue too much longer. While I am loathe to advocate for dissolution, I would not be surprised if a war starts and pits progressives against everyone else. My solace there lies in the fact that progressives are leeches and without the rest of society to continue to support them, they will shrivel up and die of their own accord. And our nation will be better off for it.
Eric seems to write with a very heavy Pro-Confederacy bias. I don’t know what his sources are. I personally do not believe the whole “it wasn’t about slavery” thing. I think it was about slavery in the minds of the North. The South purely saw it as a state’s rights issue. And I’d have to say......they weren’t wrong. Slavery is reprehensible. But considering the legal aspect of it all at that time the south was technically correct. Just not morally.
My assessment is that it was bitter grapes and that the "States rights" argument was a smokescreen. The South in 1856 lost their majority in the House of Representatives and had lost their filibuster power in the Senate as well earlier, meaning that their base of political power had finally eroded away and they could no longer protect their "peculiar institution" from an act of Congress - either to revise the fugitive slave laws or even total abolition.
What was also interesting is that the South was so heavily invested (morally) in slavery that they actually pressed for the United States to take over and colonize Cuba, Haiti, and several other Caribbean islands. (Because of the Kansas-Nebraska Act and the Missouri Compromise, these new territories would have become additional slave States if admitted to the Union.) Fortunately, this transparent warmongering was called out by the Northern States.
My sources come from the Oxford History of the United States (multiple volumes), which is compiled from thousands of other resources.
