Extrajudicial executions are prohibited by the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights which the United States has ratified, making it part of U.S. law.

Willful killing is a grave breach of the Geneva Conventions, punishable as a war crime under the U.S. War Crimes Act.

The same rationale should apply to every innocent civilian killed in the invasion and destruction of Iraq in the war crime mis-titled Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003-2011.

The Deep State is responsible, has betrayed the American people, and those who collaborated and gave the orders are guilty of treason.

I agree. I am not knowledgeable about foreign policy, but I wonder what would happen if we considered these people criminal suspects who we would arrest and try in a neutral court at the first opportunity. It would be offering the world a choice between killers and people who have a criminal justice system that respects people's rights, even if it means more risk from criminals. It makes it harder for Islamists to say they're on some righteous mission. They're just crooks who nobody wants around. We, the people of liberal democratic republics, respect all rights, and have a system to deal with crooks. People are free to live as they please, create enormous wealth, and trade it creating prosperity. They have people supposedly in touch with god who act as despots, resulting in an austere life that is closer to one vision of god. Given those choices, liberal democracy is the only choice. I wish we lived up to those values. It might put us (including me) at more risk now but lead to a better long-term outcome.

I was stunned when he gladly took the podium and admitted he'd ordered al Zawahiri killed. No trial? I didn't know he had that kind of authority. Someone ought to tell him he's not the King!
