The underlying problem is that all available methods of birth control, except the condom, are for use by women only. There is no "male pill."

Therefore, plenty of men have casual sex after taking the woman's word that she is using one of the others, but she lied (or they even responsibly use a condom, and the woman then fishes it out of the trash...) as a means for her to be awarded child support for a child that he never really consented to produce. And the law is so broken it lets her win.
