Since (at least as I understand it), doctors view the cessation of brain waves as death of a human being, and that is when they pull the plug on a respirator, it seems logical that the beginning of brain waves would indicate the beginning of life as a conscious being, which occurs, I understand, at 3 months along, or slightly before.
