With my current home state of Idaho in the national crosshairs due to hyped/misleading reporting, I found this study VERY interesting - especially since it appeared in a fairly left-wing publication.

Fear porn by the numbers. Garbage in garbage out. For starters the tests are worthless in my opinion and the inventor of the test has the same opinion. From that point the rest is people getting sick from the jab.

    I find this frustrating.
It’s basically the Left catching up with where the rest of us were a year ago.
Also why I've given up on ANY logical public health policy. For all the talk of “Science and Data”, when push comes to shove, POLITICS seems to rule. Proving that they never believed their own metrics in the first place.
Take for example this retrospective snapshot:
    9/7/2020 New Cases 25,166
    9/7/2021 New Cases 301,138
    Despite 177million vaccinations
According to the old Democrat metrics we should be locked down harder than before.
But, if they did that now, it would draw attention to the fact that, despite vaccines, Biden is a spectacular failure in managing what was the central talking point of his campaign.
Not to mention crash the economy again. Which is the last thing they want going into the midterms. All this talk of “Protecting the Public” is a bunch of political theater. And their disregard of their own metrics proves it.

Hmmm, no mention of the fake testing and still hanging onto the false narrative of asymptomatic mild cases.

I do, however, realize that this is just a look at the false data presented.

So about half of the reported 'hospitalizations' from COVID are so mild that they wouldn't be 'hospitalizations' if they were ONLY from covid.
    What of the other half?
Were those more severe 'cases' really as a result of other disease weakening the patient ?
Would those patients have been 'hospitalized' even if they had no trace of covid?
Would those who died have done so as a result of other diseases in the absence of any trace of covid?
This 'pandemic' could very well be just a compilation of other maladies that have been relabeled to create fear and to compel dependence and compliance.

What would be the result of changing the stats as The Atlantic article suggests?
    - Much higher death rate of 'covid' patients (if the real causes continue to be ignored and are called covid) ?
    - Higher percentage of more serious covid in unvaccinated patients, and a (false) conclusion that the vax is beneficial?

I trust The Atlantic just as little as I trust the fedgov and Big Pharma.

      Regarding your questions:
      1) Half of the hospitalizations probably should be referred to a minor emergency clinic. The hospitals are keeping them, however. Why? My bet is the money from the feds.
      2) The other half are hospitalizations where the person is receiving treatment specifically for breathing issues. The question of course there is "is this the best treatment regimen." The answer to that is decidedly false as the hospitals here have forbidden their doctors from using HCQ, Ivermectin, or monoclonal antibodies. Their treatment regimen includes steroids and breathing treatments - a regimen which even the CDC admits has a failure rate as high as 80%.
      3) Any specific case is going to have to be evaluated on its own. It is interesting, however, to note that even according to the CDC's own tracking, COVID by itself only accounts for 6% of overall COVID deaths. On average, a COVID death comes with 2.9 OTHER serious conditions (comorbidities).
      4) Good question. How many of these cases could be handled by outpatient care? Follow the money...
      5) Again, see #3 above. COVID is rarely the true cause of death. In most circumstances it is a contributor only.

"This 'pandemic' could very well be just a compilation of other maladies..."

That is certainly what the now-pulled Johns Hopkins statistical research on COVID-19 excess mortality indicated. It noted that the top five normal causes of death in the US were all down 80% YoY from 2019 to 2020 and that - coincidentally I'm sure - bringing up those numbers accounted for all but about 15,000 deaths.

"What would be the result of changing the stats..."

Not really sure where you're going with that.
