Pretty nice piece (no idea the biases of the site) on Emerson's thinking. He seemed to be a pretty Sparten, sharp, direct guy. No doubt he would have appreciated Ayn.

I knew of him from school and literaure, but never put my thoughts on freedom in line with his philosophies.
