H.R. 1 and S. 1 -- the "Legalized Election Theft" Bill

This is a Call to IMMEDIATE Action more than a request for discussion...

From: Campaign for Liberty [Ron Paul]

The U.S. Senate will have their first hearing on H.R. 1/S. 1, the Legalized Election Theft bill, tomorrow in the Rules Committee.

You and I must act quickly to stop this bill in its tracks!

If there is one bill in 2021 that could permanently scar the fabric of the Constitution, it’s H.R. 1/S. 1, which already passed the House.

H.R. 1/S. 1 not only institutionalizes many questionable election processes that were fraught with the most controversy in 2020, but it’s also a direct attack on the 1st Amendment and the right to dissenting political speech.

As Chairman of Campaign for Liberty, I wrote a letter, which will be delivered the members of this committee, describing specific examples of how this bill would silence political speech with fear and intimidation of activist groups just like this one.

William, both sides of the aisle should be against this bill, simply based on its flagrant disregard of the 1st Amendment.

Unfortunately, all but one Democrat Senator has signed on to S. 1 as a cosponsor!

That’s why I’m asking for your immediate action in calling all the following members of the Rules Committee to demand they oppose H.R. 1/S. 1:

Amy Klobuchar (D-MN)
(202) 224-3244

Dianne Feinstein (D-CA)
(202) 224-3841

Chuck Schumer (D-NY)
(202) 224-6542

Mark Warner (D-VA)
(202) 224-2023

Patrick Leahy (D-VT)
(202) 224-4242

Angus King (I-ME)
(202) 224-5344

Jeff Merkley (D-OR)
(202) 224-3753

Alex Padilla (D-CA)
(202) 224–3553

John Ossof (D-GA)
(202) 224-3521

These members and their colleagues on the left are making a move for permanent one-party rule, and I’m afraid they’re close to getting their way with H.R. 1/S. 1.

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) sounded the alarm last week in an op-ed about just how horrific this bill would be:

The true purpose of H.R. 1(/S. 1) — better characterized as the “Illegal Voting Act” — is not to increase legal voting. It’s to increase illegal voting and crack down on criticism of the government. It’s an Alien and Sedition Act for the 21st century: partisan, unconstitutional and borderline tyrannical.

In short, H.R. 1/S. 1 would allow for the permanent manipulation of elections by nationalizing them.

This bill has so many bad ideas in one package including:

>>Making it illegal to clean out voter rolls of deceased or non-residents;

>>Forcing states to allow early voting;

>>Forcing states to allow vote-by-mail, which is fraught with opportunities to commit fraud;

>>Forcing taxpayers to subsidize candidates they don’t align with politically; and

>>Policing online speech about elections with new broad and sweeping powers.

The so-called “For the People Act” empowers federal regulators to categorize and regulate speech, including online.

That means Campaign for Liberty could be in legal jeopardy for running our critical candidate survey program so you will know where candidates stand on issues important to you. . .

Not only that, but merely telling you how your legislators voted on legislation could become a CRIME!

That’s why I’m asking for your immediate action in calling these members of the Senate to demand they reconsider their support for the very dangerous H.R. 1/S. 1.

Amy Klobuchar (D-MN)
(202) 224-3244

Dianne Feinstein (D-CA)
(202) 224-3841

Chuck Schumer (D-NY)
(202) 224-6542

Mark Warner (D-VA)
(202) 224-2023

Patrick Leahy (D-VT)
(202) 224-4242

Angus King (I-ME)
(202) 224-5344

Jeff Merkley (D-OR)
(202) 224-3753

Alex Padilla (D-CA)
(202) 224–3553

John Ossof (D-GA)
(202) 224-3521

Then, please consider pitching in $35, $50, or even $150, to give Campaign for Liberty the resources we need to stop this brazen attempt to steal future elections!

Our elections were never meant to be “nationalized” in this way. The U.S. Constitution clearly states that elections are to be held and electors for the presidential election chosen by the manner in which the state legislature prescribes.

H.R. 1 /S. 1 would completely turn this on its head and force states to adopt rules for their elections that many of them do not want or are in the process of remedying because of flaws they have discovered.

H.R. 1 /S. 1 would thwart those efforts by the states and even counties to rectify issues they may have discovered or will discover as investigations, hand re-counts and court cases continue in Arizona, Michigan, and others.

Considering the sidestepping of the Constitution on locally controlled elections and the attack on political speech, this bill should be opposed by all sides.

I am urging all members of the Senate to oppose this reckless bill and appreciate your support in doing so as well.

For Liberty,

Ron Paul
Chairman

Talk your head off. The senate listens to $$$, not rational constitutional arguments.
Big Tech, Big Pharma, arms manufacture, banking cartel have the $$$.
The only thing that will fix this is an armed uprising of XX millions.

We wont be able to do an armed uprising because Senile Joe will sign an executive order banning gun ownership.

The tables are set. There is nothing we can do for the next 2 years. Then after the midterms, the Republicans will sell us out too.

I wouldn't waste my time calling either Schumer or Gillibrand here in NY. It's bad enough I have to go vote against them at every election and still be wasting my time. Crime does pay and the theft of this election is the living proof. 80 Million voted for sleepy Joe my ass!

I think Senator Mike Lee also described the bill thus: “Everything about this bill is rotten to the core. This is a bill as if written in hell by the devil himself.” He's not wrong.

They have already shown they can achieve one-party rule in the 2020 election. This bill just puts it in cement.
I'm really disgusted with our vets and active duty police and military.
Time after time, I read that they were standing ready to act in case of tyranny.
Well, fellas, that ship has sailed.
Your time to act was between Election Day and Inauguration Day.
So all you keyboard warriors (who have been pointedly silent these days) had better shut up.

Which are you, vet, active duty police, or military? And exactly what did you do between those dates? FYI, I resent being blamed for not acting when there was no clear path to do so that would have changed anything except getting me thrown in jail. Yes those bills are a real disaster and should not be passed, but our elected officials are trying to insure that they remain elected. The problem is not with any small group, but with a majority who vote for 'free stuff' as if there was any such thing. Remember that the average person is stupid and half of all people are below average (attributed to George Carlin.) This democracy went wrong when it allowed universal suffrage, thus letting people with no skin in the game vote on how someone else's money is spent. TANSTAAFL!
