Not quite true. We've been in a state of war for the last 20 years, with 2.7 million service members having been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, and three times that number of civilian family members impacted by their experiences. That constitutes about 20% of the population of Americans between the ages of 18 and 40.

Another 20% of this age group live below the poverty line. What I'm trying to point out is that the younger generations do understand fear and need. It's we older folk that have let the attitudes of the rest that haven't a clue of how easily our freedom from want and oppression could slip away go without learning from us.

What I find helps is asking questions and listening. Young people haven't been introduced to Aristotelian inquiry as a learning mechanism, but I find it's more effective than lecturing, because it demands they justify their ideas in a non-accusatory way.

It is sad that people don't realize that (a) we went to war in the Middle East without a declaration of war; and, (b) that the same war that we did not bother to declare continues to this day! I think the best thing we can do is listen... especially to the vets who return home and have to face entitled brats.

We've been moving into a region of time populated by short attention spans, entitlement and decadence. If the student loan crisis is "fixed" by forgiving all those loans, that will make it only worse. This UBI implementation with the Covid checks is really horrifying to me -- the checks are barely enough to really offer "relief" but they are a big enough "hit" to get the population addicted. I am also saddened by how quickly a majority of the population quickly fell in line with the compliance edicts. A long, cold, hard winter would go a long way toward waking individuals up, irrespective of their age.

With regard to the "stimulus" checks, I had a moment of pride where I considered the damage this much money just being thrown to the wind could do. I thought about just sending it back. But since I exist pretty much on social security, I took it. My biggest problem was deciding which bills to pay......there are so many.

Well one way would be to have a good old fashioned shooting war with a foreign power. That usually wakes people up. I’m sure China will oblige in the next 10 years. Ten years ago I predicted we will exchange blows with them over resources in the next 20 years. I’m still confident in that prediction.

The war with China has already started.
They declared it with Covid and the 2020 election theft.
It's time for the People to respond with a boycott of China made goods of all kinds.
When that has the effect of wrecking China's economy, then they might be ready for a shootin' war.
That is how the US entered WW2. FDR cut off Japan's access to energy and purposely left the navy at risk in Hawaii.
I think China's leaders are wiser than Japan's leaders were.

The release of Covid was a (sloppily made to look accidental) deliberate biological warfare attack meant to cripple the world and especially the economy of our country.
They also wanted to get rid of Trump and are quite happy now with their old friend Quid Pro Quo China Joe.
Yesterday me dino heard CCP is blaming India instead of the USA for right now.
Who's next? A very endangered thanks to our Thief-In-Chief Tawain.
Oh, yeah, that now heavily by Fake News and Big Tech censured Mike Lindell video (I saw it when on OAN) showed how China hacked into the election.

Yes I agree totally but would add it was first an economic financial attack ,war comes in many flavors these days. China bribed or bought many decision makers leading to an unprecedented trade imbalance. China stealing intellectual property and Chinazi’s also infiltrated the universities. Good grief!

A dear friend, instructor jet pilot, predicted to me during the Cuban Crisis that we would not go to war with Russia. He said we would go to war with China and Russia would be our ally!!! 1960's

Quite frankly, I haven't the remotest idea. But I'm going to think on it and start with my grandchildren to be sure they understand a few things.

Unless they are really young. Or if they are in college you might want to think about it, maybe even just accept it. Good luck. My two grandchildren are college grads, both liberals (behind my back).

Though the draft was "involuntary servitude," it DID have the benefit of bringing together Americans, from widely diverse backgrounds, to work for a common cause.

We dont bridge the gap. Its time to split up the USA. Half the people wanted some semblance of constitutionality, and the other half are outright socialist/communist/fascist types. There is NO unity, and no compromise

Instead of bludgeoning Russia constantly by both the left and right, should understand that the Russian people aren't their government. I know that FB is the enemy but I'm a member of three Slavic Groups there and quite a few contributors are in Russia. They are very intelligent and cordial and they love the dialog with people in other Slavic countries and those of us in the US whose grandparents came from Eastern European countries from back in the early 1900's and more recent times. The members who live in rural areas of Russia are more self sufficient.
