At face value I don't see a problem with your very brief description. Sorry to hear you're in pain.
But the most effective thing that a parent can do is get on a text book committee. And don't be bullied into keeping quiet with the threat that the teacher would take it out on your child. This won't happen if their are plenty of parents standing up for their rights that their children get a fair education.
