A Real "Galt's Gulch"

Have any of you checked out and/or seriously considered moving to any of the several "Galt's Gulch" that have been built? I'm talking specifically about Doug Casey's La Estancia de Cafayate in Salta, Argentina, or either of Jeff Berwick's developments in Acapulco (Condos) and the new one in Chile?

I ask, in part because I've looked at these places, and both are outside of what I could feasibly afford. This has driven me to trying to create something like this that is within the reach of more like-minded people who don't have $500k to $800k ready to drop on a moment's notice to purchase lots and build a home. Call this a little market research, but who better to ask than Randians!! =)

Yeah, I just found out about the one in Chile. I'm now catching up on the other posts like this one. I'd love to know how much 1.25 to 10 acres would cost down in Chile. I'm seriously considering it.

There are some interesting opportunities down in South America and Central America. I would encourage you to google the Osa Mountain Village in Costa Rica. I believe they have the right idea, with regards to building a community centered around self-sufficiency, sustainability, desirable amenities and establishing a balance with nature. If their buy-in price is more than what you want to pay, but you're still interested in potentially living in a community that produces it's own organic food, some of it's energy, has many of the desired amenities, and costs about 40% less than the Osa Mountain Village sale price, send me a message and I'll tell you what we're working on. =)

I have been considering putting together a small, private community here in Norcal. Ironically, I want to be close enough to come into the city to do my work. But, I'd like to share a large plot of land with like-minded families. I can engineer the development - well, septic, livestock. I'd even build our own school facility to homeschool. I know several like-minded families so I'm in the early stages of finding a site. It seems that many families are simply tired of the failures of leadership in our established communities (crime, bad schools, etc). We'll see...
