While watching some informational videos at work, I came across this video which provides some exceptional information on your vehicle and safety. Then I noticed the firefighter's helmet, around the 3:41 mark in the video.

Toughened has an advantage over laminated in that it does not shatter into sharp fragments.
Years ago my toughened glass shattered from an object thrown up, the windshield went cloudy with lines, I was wearing gloves and had to punch a hole to look thru, scary. I think that is why in many places it is now illegal, laminated can break into sharp pieces but usually it just has a few cracks which can be ignored until you can get a replacement.
