Just asking if I could get a large piece of land who would come build Atlantis. Very seriously looking.

The reason I ask is I remember John Galt took all of the productive persons capitalists out of socialist society and left it to rot. As he said "I will stop the motor of the world." My thoughts are what would it take to "stop the motor of the world" if America were to become socialized? I know Atlantis has a cloak device and unlimited energy through Galt's engineering genius. I know we have the ability to create power through Nicolai Tesla's discoveries, but what of defences, and only allowing in those who would swear the oath to live for no one else and to ask no other to live for them? Any thoughts on how Atlantis can be concealed or defended?

The government would ferret you out. About a decade ago I started looking for a piece of land nearby in the foothills. I wanted to get up to 20 acres and build houses on it for us and several like-minded families. I could build solar thermal with thermal storage, PV. I'd include a school structure with some office space for us to educate our kids while one spouse could keep working in the city. But, surely the planners would question it as some odd development. And, the busy bodies would want to know about the new commune with the children in it. "Hey...is that solar thermal structure build without a permit?..." etc....

You are correct in that the guvmint would seek to destroy all you were building as they must control your obedience. I applaud your planning but 20 acres is not enough room to do all you plan. Which is why something the size of T is the best answer. I'm not saying it is the only place but you must have something of comparable size to incorporate everything you must have to survive.

Very interesting. I'm somewhat familiar with the engineering challenges to be faced there: rain cisterns, septic, foundations, wind loads, etc. Years ago I was contacted by somebody via this forum about setting up a small community in New Zealand. I think that fizzled out.

I think my own personal Gulch will be in Nevada or northern Arizona...

Expensive? Yes. Lots of room? Yes. Remote? Yes. Do I have plans? Yes.

JohnRobert2 and I had quite a lengthy discussion about building Atlantis at Tikina-i-ra and several other possible locations several years ago here on Galt's Gulch Online. There really are no good options.

Melbourne, FL looks better compared to everywhere else every day I live here. Our zoo re-opened, as did the Kennedy Space Center. C'mon down to jbrenner's Gulch.

By the way, I have just started a new company named Chem-Free Solutions that is making UV LED disinfection solutions (primarily for cleaning floors and HVAC systems).

Tucker Carlson sounds like he is about to go Galt. About eight minutes into tonight's show, he said, "The game is rigged. Why are we still playing?"

I was in Florida on business (and a little golf) a few months back - just before this pandemic hit here. I really liked it. I also love fishing and all those various pieces of water with fish in them - a fantasy from my childhood. I visited with my mom on that trip too, in Boca. She said I must see the Space Center. I really want to. I used to work in the aerospace business. Left it for more money and now, over 20 years later, I can afford to go back soon (haha!). Watching SpaceX launch on tv yesterday I had tears in my eyes...

I will check out your area someday, surely...

I get questions at work about UV in hospital mechanical systems. I'll pm you my email if you want to send me something.

Boca Raton is about two hours of south of me and 2.5 hours south of the Space Center. Boca Raton took a while longer to open than we did, for good reason.

There are lots of aerospace jobs here. Melbourne is an affordable place to live, retire, and golf. If you come down here, I'll make sure to get you a tour of the Space Center.

Elon Musk of SpaceX is slowly coming around toward Objectivist values. The delayed CA re-opening was an eye-opener for him.

We are looking to beta test both disinfection robots and miniaturized HVAC systems in hospitals in rooms only available to those working on HVAC.
