I am in Canada and it is so annoying that many people here seem to have the viewpoint that the rest of the world has to help look after us. A good example is low oil prices hampering our economy.
I understand the idea of a global economy, but when it is not working and our "lemonade stand" is not profitable, we have to look at other ideas.
Artificial manipulation of economies and trading goes against everything we as Gulch inhabitants should stand for.
What would John Galt, Dagny Taggart, Henry Rearden... do?
They would stand up and show that they can look after themselves and not cater to the whims of the others.
The world economy is supposed to work like "I, Pencil: The Movie," but when governments get involved, things get messed up.
The best thing we can do is (on an as need basis), is to decrease legislation and regulation in certain areas and let the people create and build an independent economy.
It is fairly complex as we are dealing with overpopulation in relation to resource and productivity based jobs, coupled with the rise of socialism, and government intervention.
Up in Canada: If our oil isn't profitable on the world economy, we have to move forward, diversify, and look after ourselves: be it with other countries or not.
Maybe John Galt is now running China.
I would love to hear what Yaron Brook has to say about all of this.
I don't necessarily like all his answers, but I can not disagree with them.
Every time the Grand Solar Minimum comes around, another chinese dynasty collapses. That's just History.
Dream on china...reality will be different when you wake up.
...and...we haven't even touched on the 12,000 cycle, some say is due around then. (sure hope they are wrong.)
People live on PRODUCTS...not "services".
From the moment that Nixon created the EPA (a
"government organization") they have been an empowered arm of the government that has been busy shutting down production in this country in the name of "environmental rights".
The cost of product is always bi-product and there was no "recycling" in the 1970's.
Technological advance was never added to the equation (in other words: The EPA would eventually become obsolete).
China has no such issues. They went from "communism" to "capitalism" in one fell swoop.
