Once the counter rolls over, it will then be important for the country to immediately stop overspending so as to not just end up back in the same situation, but Warren expressed confidence that “we can stop any time we want.”

The irony is that hyperinflation does precisely that.

However, don't be surprised if the next US President is a failed Canadian artist with a silly mustache who yells a lot.

Yes. Hyperinflation has destroyed economies and then the nations that allowed it. Recent well known example Venezuela, before that Zimbabwe, before that the German second reich. We may agree agree that Trump has strong points but economic sense appears to play to support political sense.

The obligation (or not) to pay the national debt is very controversial among libertarians. If the people in Washington are not really our agents (Spooner's view) then why should we feel a duty to pay their bills?

If you hold the Constitution to be valid then there is arguably an obligation to pay. Section 4 of the 14th Amendment says the debt "shall not be questioned" -- which sounds like a nasty speech restriction rather than a promise to pay!

But in reality, I don't think it can ever be paid except by inflating it down to nothing. Or perhaps we'll get into a stupid war with Russia and China and repudiate specifically the bonds they hold. Only, what if they win?

While I never liked Single Payer...
    I am inclined...

For citizens, we have Free Emergency Medical! If tragedy strikes, we are covered with what our medical industry handles best: Trauma.

If it's lifestyle related... Not covered, and we allow insurance to DENY paying benefits (without expensive riders) for lifestyle diseases (like T2D, Obesity, etc).

Because those 2 items alone will bankrupt us in 40-50 years if we dont get a handle on it.

And the ONLY way to do that, is to STOP Paying for the progression we see today!

Literally talked to an obese elderly man who said "Yeah, but my medicines are cheap enough... So why change?" (And that's the problem)

This is a joke article on a satire website, not real quotes.

True. The problem is that it is just about as true as the real things she says.

$52 trillion and that doesn't just make you vomit? Anyone even thinking about voting for this type of sheer idiocy should be sent to go live in Cuba for a couple of years - and I don't mean at the US Embassy. (Of course we could use them as guinea pigs to see if the Cubans really were targeting our people there with sonic devices...)

As SNL said, "When the numbers are this big they're just pretend."

That they are even joking about numbers this big tells me that they're trying to persuade Americans that it is so absurd you shouldn't pay any attention - until your life gets destroyed by it. Politicians should not be even joking about things like this.

Saturday Night Live joked about it. I'm not aware of any politicians joking about it. I'm kind of glad SNL joked about it b/c sometimes people will laugh and give thought to a joke about an idea but ignore the hard truth.
