While recently away to attend the funeral of a brother killed in a car accident, I was told that his oldest of three grown daughters is homeschooling his two little granddaughters. The first word out of my mouth was an exclamation that said, "GOOD!"
Hopefully they are going at it from a good basis. We home-schooled both of our kids. Non-religious and academically focused. But neither one for very long. We both had to work and just wasn't enough time. We focused on pushing the schools to do more what we wanted after that. Anyway - maybe you can help guide them :) I was just looking at https://www.vandammeacademy.com/ - not to send them there - but for ideas. Also, maybe buy her Leonard Peikoff's Books - Teaching Johnny To Think and Objective Communication: Writing, Speaking and Arguing. Especially the first. It ties Rand's Objectivist Epistemology to some other ideas and teaching skills that could help.
This is why there needs to be a much broader network of private schools, homeschooling, etc... Progressive indoctrination - whether the parents agree or not. This was how it happened in NY 30 years ago - and they were very up front about it - "It's none of the parents business what we teach their kids!"
There are some pretty screwed up areas in TX - as usual - it's centralized around the bigger cites.
