I am new to the site and am glad it is here but am wondering what the movie's producers goal is to host a message board online. Don't get me wrong, I already have Part I and Part II is on order. I will watch when I have all 3 parts.

I also think the online message board is a terrific marketing idea. But I wonder if the producers had any other goals for this community?

    I think it is for like minded people to communicate about events in today's world and compare it to Rand's philosophy. Also to review her works. Don't think there is anyone that compares to her. The movies are also a plus for the forum and most likely, what started the gulch website.

    Welcome Mulligan. I believe that it is a forum to discuss AR's philosophy in a constructive manner, and to, I hope and believe, start a groundswell that will get people not only thinking about this, but acting on it.

    OUR PURPOSE:
    1. We have movies to promote - Atlas Shrugged Part II is coming out on DVD and Blu-ray February 19th and, Part III will soon be in production. We need to get the word out and we want to employ your help.
    2. We have ideas to spread - We're passionate about Ayn Rand's ideas and we hope to assist in their progress by engaging in some inspired conversation.

            Wish it was that simple. Go to the New Post - What can we do .. by Mellis. You will find in the comments two videos or past that one video of Ayn Rand's advice on this. You will appreciate listening to her writing about just this. We are ALL trying to do what we can to save this country. You are not alone here in your feelings. It isn't easy, but take Rand's advice and do what you can.......

    In the beginning I have to admit that I thought it did have, at least somewhat, to do with getting the movie ASII some added attention. It actually crossed my mind that it might be shut down afterward. It took a little while to take off and it didn't REALLY take off, in my tiny opinion, until after the movie was released and more people started coming in. And, from what I understand, this forum isn't as busy as most other forums, but this is the only one I've ever cared to enter to I have no experience to personally draw from.

      davidkachel, I have read Atlas Shrugged at least 5 times along with most of what Ayn Rand has written. I have been a student of Objectivism since 1971. My post **specifically** inquired as to what the goals of the movie's producers were in creating the message board. It was not a question of epistemology.

          Don't be puzzled. My question was honest. Of course message boards are a place to converse.

          I was wondering if the producers hoped the message board could be a vehicle to organized change in our nation.

          I'm an old hand at marketing. Believe me, it IS a good marketing tool. Nothing wrong with that!

          it's kind of funny you think that DK. The movies are exactly how you came into this website. How else did you first hear about it? For me, I was just so happy AS was on the big screen. and that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie weren't doing it. I signed up for emails so I could help promote the movies where I lived at the time and to family and friends. My hope is that people progress from exposure to the movies to reading AS and then to reading her nonfiction. Those who agree and identify have a common purpose in discussing these ideas. I'll bet there are those in here who might have held positions on issues that have changed for them. Also, I experience a lot of frustration in watching my country destroyed beyond recognition. it's nice to know I'm not alone, partly because it's impossible to be an expert and knowledgeable about everything. so I appreciate posts in here discussing stuff I'm not up on. Lastly, I want ASIII to come out. I hope it will be the best one
