I'm curious to know if there will be a list of theaters that ASP3 will be playing at. Harmon Kaslow in his Reason interview mentioned something along those lines.
Monday I plan to talk to the guy at Wal-mart who orders movies and CDs and suggest to him that he stock up on AS1 and AS2 just prior to and after the 12th.
Thanks Scott! I just sent my "demand" in for Irving, TX. OTOH, there are several other theatres within 10 miles of where I live. Perhaps we don't want to spread them too thinly.
I contacted the largest movie theater chain in Utah and this is their response:
Thank you for taking the time to inquire about this film. We have been contacted by the film’s distributors and they have informed us that they are releasing this film on a very limited basis. Initially, on 9/12, they play to open in only 250 locations nationwide and only 5-6 Megaplex location in the entire state of Utah. We are still negotiating which locations will open the film, but at this point they are not targeting any locations in Cedar City. We are trying to get at least one location in Southern Utah on 9/12, but if I had to make a guess I believe they will choose to play a location St George. If that is the case they have told us they will consider expanding the film after they see how it performs at the box office.
We hope to have more exact information in the coming days, so I will make sure to update you when we know more. If you have any other questions or suggestions for us please do not hesitate to contact us at anytime.
CONNECTICUT!!!!???? I can't believe my full on practically communist looter loving crummy excuse for one of the 13 original colonies is having an opening!! Oh Happy Days!
My local theater, "Harkins" played the first 2 A.S. and America but they were played on the smallest screens possible and only at one location. I went to see America 2x but both times the show was sold out. I have a conspiracy theory that this was on purpose. Like they don't want it to succeed. I'm sure I'm just paranoid.
Not one theater in my state (UT) is showing the film. My guess it's due to the predominant religion. While the state is conservative, the people are very tightly controlled in their thinking and lifestyle and NO contrary opinion is tolerated. No individualism is tolerated.
Thanks for the list. I had called the Market Place in St Hts Mi a month ago after seeing America there and they weren't sure if they would have it. Apparently, calls do help. CALL YOUR LOCAL THEATERS!
Thanks much for the theater list. Since I won't have to make a road trip to see the movie, a good chunk of what I would have spent will now be spent supporting the movie by watching it multiple times.
And I noticed that there are no theaters in Hawaii or Massachusettes or Vermont showing the move. Coincidence?
There aren't any theaters in Alabama or Arkansas either. Because there are often only one or two in many states I suspect that based upon past performance they (theater owners) are voting with their wallets and not booking it.
I know that my theater is showing AS3. With Carmike Theaters, you can specify a date, and a list of what will play on that date and the times show up on a web site.
We'll be releasing an event coordinator and map in the Gulch next week.
Excellent! There are several possibilities for my group.
Thank you.
O.A.
becomes availlable??? Thanks!!! -- j
I viewed the trailer posted yesterday...awesome!
