I agree. I choose who to give kindness and respect to. There are people out there that will be insulted or take advantage of these types of acts. Attempting to bestow kindness and respect to everyone without using your own judgement could get you hurt or worse.
And sometimes concealing your real feelings is more demeaning that revealing them. Even to the point of degrading another person's ability to be responsible for his own feelings.
Must be my absolute conviction that whatever I say has been read by the Gulchers!--a play on myself. From Where is Circuit Guy. It had to do with how a person takes criticism of himself, and devolved into when to use kindness and respect and when to say exactly what you mean.
Carol, I have the same question as kh. As a woman who is almost always perceived as a scary angry bitch at first meetings, then often told "I don't know why I was afraid of you.", I think I deal with the same issues or events you're talking about. I'm concerned that you seem to be separating '''using kindness and respect" from "saying exactly what you mean" and I'd like to know if we're in the same boat. Feel free to PM me, of course. WW
IMHO, saying the truth even if it hurts when done with kindness and respect is more important than kindness & respectfulness without the truth. But then sometimes the best way to say the truth is with a 2x4 up side the head. With respect of course. Lol
