That pretty-much sums it up. If I wasn't self employed, affording me the liberty to depend on my own abilities without a stupid boss screwing things up, I'd lose my mind.

Don't look for intelligence in public schools, it is extinguished there. The average IQ of teachers has declined in the past 10-20 years. A friend who helps her daughter's child with homework, said the child's reading ability is declining the longer she is in school! I told her that the child's IQ is is likely declining as well, so say some studies. We know reason is dead. It is just a matter of time until we are mindless worker ants.

I think this comment is dated. When I was a child, I was called a 'bookworm'. There is absolutely no cache to being a bookworm. Now, I am a 'geek'. Geeks are powerful; geeks are people you want as friends; geeks make things work. There is a social status to being a 'geek' that was totally absent from being a 'bookworm'. (And we might be your boss some day...)

It almost unbelievable, the intelligence & wisdom of this lady, Ayn Rand.

It's recognized. It's hated, reviled, and made fun of. In a choice between evil and smart the preference would be evil.

And it is not recognized or rewarded today.

...especially in Congress.
